…We Paved the Way!

Happy Founders’ Day to my Sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the first Greek-lettered sorority established and incorporated by African-American college women. Today we celebrate 109 years of sisterhood and service to all mankind.

A few years ago someone asked me, “Why AKA?” Initially, I thought, “Why not?” There are too many reasons. After my life drastically changed in November, I know the answer. My Sorors assembled. My feet never touched the ground because we help each other. I am grateful for the foresight of our founders and proud to be a lady of AKA.

Who knew an only child could have so many sisters?
